Recycling on the Alps can be a challenging task

The Alps are vast expanses of mountains which cover an area as large as entire Europe. Being world’s most extensive and highest mountain region, Alps require an immense deal of maintenance to subdue the effects of human and other waste upon the quality of its environment. The use of recycling and reusing methods and technologies is a waxing task because of the tough tracks and great sized of mountain pastures and peaks. The cliché recycling methods prove to be of no use or little use in the challenging pastures of Alps Mountains. The bad news is that because of the difficulty faced in waste management and recycling in world’s highest mountain range is resulting in an increase in environmental pollution of plain areas day after day. The good news is that despite the unavailability of adequate resources and harsh environmental challenges, recycling, and resulting strategies are being updated day by day to tackle this problem.[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column][fusion_builder_column type=”2_5″ layout=”2_5″ spacing=”” center_content=”no” link=”” target=”_self” min_height=”” hide_on_mobile=”small-visibility,medium-visibility,large-visibility” class=”” id=”” background_color=”” background_image=”” background_position=”left top” undefined=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” hover_type=”none” border_size=”0″ border_color=”” border_style=”solid” border_position=”all” padding_top=”” padding_right=”” padding_bottom=”” padding_left=”” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”0px” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”left” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_offset=”” last=”no”][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container][fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”no” hundred_percent_height=”no” hundred_percent_height_scroll=”no” hundred_percent_height_center_content=”yes” equal_height_columns=”no” menu_anchor=”” hide_on_mobile=”small-visibility,medium-visibility,large-visibility” class=”” id=”” background_color=”” background_image=”” background_position=”center center” background_repeat=”no-repeat” fade=”no” background_parallax=”none” enable_mobile=”no” parallax_speed=”0.3″ video_mp4=”” video_webm=”” video_ogv=”” video_url=”” video_aspect_ratio=”16:9″ video_loop=”yes” video_mute=”yes” video_preview_image=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” padding_top=”40px” padding_right=”” padding_bottom=”” padding_left=””][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ layout=”1_1″ spacing=”” center_content=”no” link=”” target=”_self” min_height=”” hide_on_mobile=”small-visibility,medium-visibility,large-visibility” class=”” id=”” background_color=”” background_image=”” background_position=”left top” background_repeat=”no-repeat” hover_type=”none” border_size=”0″ border_color=”” border_style=”solid” border_position=”all” padding_top=”” padding_right=”” padding_bottom=”” padding_left=”” dimension_margin=”” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”left” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_offset=”” last=”no”][fusion_text columns=”” column_min_width=”” column_spacing=”” rule_style=”default” rule_size=”” rule_color=”” class=”” id=””]

The Problems

Recycling on the Alps is a troublesome because of the far-off and scarce availability of processing equipment and transportation routes. Communities which are strongly willing to better the Alps situation are constantly fighting challenges on daily bases and require proper solutions to their problems. Two of the most common challenge faced during recycling in mountain pastures include:[/fusion_text][fusion_separator style_type=”none” hide_on_mobile=”small-visibility,medium-visibility,large-visibility” class=”” id=”” sep_color=”” top_margin=”20px” bottom_margin=”” border_size=”” icon=”” icon_circle=”” icon_circle_color=”” width=”” alignment=”center” /][fusion_flip_boxes columns=”2″ icon=”” icon_color=”” circle=”yes” circle_color=”” circle_border_color=”” icon_flip=”” icon_rotate=”” icon_spin=”no” image=”” image_width=”” image_height=”” hide_on_mobile=”small-visibility,medium-visibility,large-visibility” class=”” id=””][fusion_flip_box title_front=”Distant processing facilities” title_back=”” text_front=”” background_color_front=”” title_front_color=”” text_front_color=”” background_color_back=”#1fbed6″ title_back_color=”” text_back_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_radius=”” icon=”fa-spinner fas” icon_color=”#1fbed6″ circle=”no” circle_color=”” circle_border_color=”” icon_flip=”” icon_rotate=”” icon_spin=”no” image=”” image_width=”35″ image_height=”35″ animation_type=”” animation_direction=”left” animation_speed=”0.1″ animation_offset=””]

The Alps offer little to no room for the establishment of proper waste processing facilities. The recyclable material has to be collected in bulk and delivered to the processing units which are usually located outside the mountain areas. This process requires a good deal of efforts and labor in order to transport a single ton of recyclable waste which is not convenient for local recycling advocates.

[/fusion_flip_box][fusion_flip_box title_front=”Remote Transportation routes” title_back=”” text_front=”” background_color_front=”” title_front_color=”” text_front_color=”” background_color_back=”#1fbed6″ title_back_color=”” text_back_color=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_radius=”” icon=”fa-truck fas” icon_color=”#1fbed6″ circle=”no” circle_color=”” circle_border_color=”” icon_flip=”” icon_rotate=”” icon_spin=”” image=”” image_width=”35″ image_height=”35″ animation_type=”” animation_direction=”left” animation_speed=”0.1″ animation_offset=””]Apart from the problem of far-off processing plants, another major problem which locals have to face during recycling in mountain pastures is the non-availability of master transportation routes for the carrying of recyclable waste. All the waste which is collected from various parts of Alps has to be carried across dangerous routes towards transportation points from which the vehicles can take the waste to processing facilities and other destinations. In mountain pastures, you cannot simply just start recycling without having a proper transportation plan or all the efforts will go to waste.[/fusion_flip_box][/fusion_flip_boxes][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container][fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”no” hundred_percent_height=”no” hundred_percent_height_scroll=”no” hundred_percent_height_center_content=”yes” equal_height_columns=”no” menu_anchor=”” hide_on_mobile=”small-visibility,medium-visibility,large-visibility” class=”” id=”” background_color=”” background_image=”https://www.earthsquad.global/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/19-29.jpg” background_position=”center center” background_repeat=”no-repeat” fade=”no” background_parallax=”fixed” enable_mobile=”no” parallax_speed=”0.3″ video_mp4=”” video_webm=”” video_ogv=”” video_url=”” video_aspect_ratio=”16:9″ video_loop=”yes” video_mute=”yes” video_preview_image=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” padding_top=”40px” padding_right=”40px” padding_bottom=”40px” padding_left=”40px”][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ layout=”1_1″ spacing=”” center_content=”no” link=”” target=”_self” min_height=”” hide_on_mobile=”small-visibility,medium-visibility,large-visibility” class=”” id=”” background_color=”rgba(255,255,255,0.84)” background_image=”” background_position=”left top” undefined=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” hover_type=”none” border_size=”0″ border_color=”” border_style=”solid” border_position=”all” padding_top=”25px” padding_right=”25px” padding_bottom=”25px” padding_left=”25px” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”left” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_offset=”” last=”no”][fusion_text columns=”” column_min_width=”” column_spacing=”” rule_style=”default” rule_size=”” rule_color=”” class=”” id=””]

The consequences

Given the major problems of far-off processing plants and distant transportation routes, the ease of recycling suffers a lot of strain. Recycling in the Alps may be fun but it is not at all cheap because of the following reasons:

[/fusion_text][fusion_builder_row_inner][fusion_builder_column_inner type=”1_2″ layout=”1_2″ spacing=”” center_content=”no” hover_type=”none” link=”” min_height=”” hide_on_mobile=”small-visibility,medium-visibility,large-visibility” class=”” id=”” background_color=”” background_image=”” background_position=”left top” undefined=”” background_repeat=”no-repeat” border_size=”0″ border_color=”” border_style=”solid” padding_top=”” padding_right=”” padding_bottom=”” padding_left=”” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”left” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_offset=”” last=”no” border_position=”all”][fusion_text columns=”” column_min_width=”” column_spacing=”” rule_style=”default” rule_size=”” rule_color=”” class=”” id=””]

Amplified transportation costs

Because of the distant transportation routes, the transportation costs are amplified. During the process of carrying recyclable waste towards transportation points, dangerous and tough roads have to be taken. Moving on these routes requires labor or investment which is required to make use of local transportation means. The local means of transportation are not big enough to carry waste in bulk and repeated visits need to be paid for the complete transfer of recyclable of waste from the Alps to transport trucks.[/fusion_text][/fusion_builder_column_inner][fusion_builder_column_inner type=”1_2″ layout=”1_2″ spacing=”” center_content=”no” hover_type=”none” link=”” min_height=”” hide_on_mobile=”small-visibility,medium-visibility,large-visibility” class=”” id=”” background_color=”” background_image=”” background_position=”left top” background_repeat=”no-repeat” border_size=”0″ border_color=”” border_style=”solid” padding_top=”” padding_right=”” padding_bottom=”” padding_left=”” dimension_margin=”” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”left” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_offset=”” last=”no” border_position=”all”][fusion_text columns=”” column_min_width=”” column_spacing=”” rule_style=”default” rule_size=”” rule_color=”” class=”” id=””]

Increased processing costs

The time spent in the repeated deposition of recyclable waste causes profit loss to processing units as well as transporters. This results in making the recycling process inefficient and costly for people who are aiming to conserve the Alps.[/fusion_text][fusion_imageframe image_id=”3885″ max_width=”” style_type=”glow” stylecolor=”” hover_type=”none” bordersize=”” bordercolor=”” borderradius=”” align=”center” lightbox=”no” gallery_id=”” lightbox_image=”” alt=”” link=”” linktarget=”_self” hide_on_mobile=”small-visibility,medium-visibility,large-visibility” class=”” id=”” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”left” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_offset=””]https://www.earthsquad.global/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/4-40.jpg[/fusion_imageframe][/fusion_builder_column_inner][/fusion_builder_row_inner][/fusion_builder_column][/fusion_builder_row][/fusion_builder_container][fusion_builder_container hundred_percent=”no” hundred_percent_height=”no” hundred_percent_height_scroll=”no” hundred_percent_height_center_content=”yes” equal_height_columns=”no” menu_anchor=”” hide_on_mobile=”small-visibility,medium-visibility,large-visibility” class=”” id=”” background_color=”” background_image=”” background_position=”center center” background_repeat=”no-repeat” fade=”no” background_parallax=”none” enable_mobile=”no” parallax_speed=”0.3″ video_mp4=”” video_webm=”” video_ogv=”” video_url=”” video_aspect_ratio=”16:9″ video_loop=”yes” video_mute=”yes” video_preview_image=”” border_size=”” border_color=”” border_style=”solid” margin_top=”” margin_bottom=”” padding_top=”40px” padding_right=”” padding_bottom=”” padding_left=””][fusion_builder_row][fusion_builder_column type=”1_1″ layout=”1_1″ spacing=”” center_content=”no” link=”” target=”_self” min_height=”” hide_on_mobile=”small-visibility,medium-visibility,large-visibility” class=”” id=”” background_color=”” background_image=”” background_position=”left top” background_repeat=”no-repeat” hover_type=”none” border_size=”0″ border_color=”” border_style=”solid” border_position=”all” padding_top=”” padding_right=”” padding_bottom=”” padding_left=”” dimension_margin=”” animation_type=”” animation_direction=”left” animation_speed=”0.3″ animation_offset=”” last=”no”][fusion_text columns=”” column_min_width=”” column_spacing=”” rule_style=”default” rule_size=”” rule_color=”” class=”” id=””]

The solution- Local initiatives

Alps locals have greatly recognized the rising concern of environmental pollution and its adverse effects on human health. To counter this problem, the people and caretakers of Alps have adopted following strategies in order to minimize the severity of the problem:[/fusion_text][fusion_accordion type=”” boxed_mode=”” border_size=”1″ border_color=”” background_color=”” hover_color=”” divider_line=”” icon_size=”” icon_color=”” icon_boxed_mode=”” icon_alignment=”” hide_on_mobile=”small-visibility,medium-visibility,large-visibility” class=”” id=””][fusion_toggle title=”Noteworthy recycling and reusing strategies” open=”no”]Several awareness campaigns have led to the cultivation of knowledge regarding the waste management of the locals of Alps. These campaigns have also spurred the initiation of various recycling and reusing strategies which have led the people to make efficient use of material and safe discarding of the waste materials. A number of people are becoming a part of these local campaigns on daily basis to save the Alps and the world from the harms of environmental pollution.[/fusion_toggle][fusion_toggle title=”Planned purchasing of goods” open=”no”]One of the most effective strategies the Alps locals have adopted is strategic purchasing of goods. Instead of splurging upon frequent shopping sprees, Alps locals refrain from buying unnecessary things. In order to reduce the use of plastic packaging and bags, the people have resorted to the use of fabric bags and other reusable means for collection of groceries. These habits have led to the controlling of plastic pollution in the Alps to a great extent.[/fusion_toggle][fusion_toggle title=”Reduced discard” open=”no”]The people of Alps are used to eating and using natural products. By following the conventional means of obtaining energy for survival, Alps locals have been successful to keep the problem of plastic pollution at bay. Composting is an amazing way of reducing organic waste and reusing it for growing more stuff. Composting can be done by anyone at any place. Alps locals take a lot of benefits from the method of composting. Apart from offering them a chance to reduce organic waste, Composting benefits the Alps locals in terms of fuels and fertilizer provision.
