One of the foremost necessary ecological projects implemented in Azerbajdzhan in recent years is the building of the plant supported the latest technologies for burning household wastes in the capital of Azerbajdzhan. So, for years household wastes of Azerbajdzhan Republic were accustomed be carried to the area noted as Balakhany wastes in capital surrounding and also the “mountain” consisting of garbage’s was arising there. At the results of the primitive burning of garbage accumulated there the noisome smoke lined capital of Azerbajdzhan and Absheron earth sporadically. The special tasks were given President of Azerbaijan in the direction of a solution of this problem attaining serious ecological danger. The construction of the plant has begun by Constructions Industrielles de la Mediterranee S.A. (CNIM S.A.), Company of France in the frame of Complex Plan of Actions for years 2006-2010 on the improvement of the ecological situation in the Azerbajdzhan Republic. The total sum projecting and construction of the plant is 346 million Euros.

The plant being built in the area of 20 hectares allotted for this purpose in Balakhany settlement and having a capacity of burning of 500 thousand tons of garbage and receiving of annually 231.5 million kilowatts hours of energy at the result.
